Photography Directories
This is a section for both hobbyist and professional photography directories. The field is a broad one that has moved in quantum leaps in recent times with the advent of digital cameras and the demise of film. For most enthusiasts there are two manufacturers in the small format market, who dominate and will get their dollar - namely Canon and Nikon. Depending on your preference and style, you will generally love one and hate the other - that's the nature of a photographer and his/her favourite equipment.
In addition to the directories below there are also some fantastic photography resources that no photographer should ignore. When buying a digital camera you cannot go past dpreview, which offers detailed reviews of all the latest digital equipment covering all brands and manufacturers as well as industry news and a discussion forum. To learn techniques and pick up some tips and tricks, the Digital Photography School - run by Darren Rowse of Problogger fame - is an absolute gem with a comprehensive collection of tutorials from beginner to advanced, though predominantly concentrating somewhere in between the two.
If you prefer to have a hardcopy ready-at-hand complete with all the best tips whilst you are traveling remotely and don't have access to the internet or your favourite wi-fi gadget then I can personally recommend Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Books Volumes 1 through 3 (Amazon bestsellers). They are suitable for beginners up and Scott Kelby is the President of the NAPP, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, so his expertise and knowledge in the photography field is proven.
