Twitter is good if you find and follow people that relate to your product. For my websites I found people that were into survival type stuff. Then I followed them. As time grew I noticed people were following me back.

Now, one thing to understand is people also have "other" people they follow. Your message is competing with the messages of the people they follow. This is just my observation.

Direct messaging is one route. I find people ignore them, because it is used for spam a lot.

Twitter is fun for me. I just keep in mind that it's messaging system is competitive. If you tie your twitter into your website and have an active blog. You may just get more attention.

you're welcome. Also rember to use the search tags for what you sell/site is ab out.

Example: I like survival blogs. So type into search #survivalblog to see if anyone is posting under this hash tag.

Try many different things until you find out where your niche is.

Yeah like this you can increase your network either its twitter followers or Facebook fans or friends. But I don't think it can generate business revenue in large scale.
