I'm getting offers from MSN an FF to update something in Win7 or FF almost every week and I don't see it as unnecessary actions on their part.
WMP is part of IE and FF if I'm not mistaken and widely used on Internet in millions of applications. Message you are getting is telling you that your player is outdated and that there is latest version of WMP is available for upgrade.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO INSTALL IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO AND CAN USE YOUR OLD VERSION INSTEAD.
Only some moron will use good intention on part of vendor to keep PC up to date as "not recommended" statement.

Read my posts in this forum and you'll see that I told him that he can use link to our site in his list only if he will provide honest description. I'm just going to do what AMRAY Management should done long time ago and report his site to Google and let him to scratch his ass after G. removes his site from it Index.

I'm not sure what you're hoping to accomplish by "reporting" the site to Google or why you're suggesting that Google will remove the site from their index?
They are clearly entitled to any opinion they wish to form regarding any directory and I don't think that they owe anyone an explanation of such. If you contacted them in a courteous and professional manner, I wouldn't be surprised if you got a response and were able to open some sort of dialog with him. If he declines to offer an explanation, it's his prerogative.

mimka,
I just moved to W7 and note see that player is a plugin for both my FF and IE8 (aka junk) and amazingly enough your site no longer causes my ATT modem to reboot. For whatever it may or may not be worth I find visiting your site a much more pleasant experience without that annoying, scratchy and fade in/out noise.

I'm also sick of the fighting between you two, as it always gets dragged over here.
@mimika I think you just need to accept the review you've been given. I've had plenty of bad ones along the way, and the best thing to do is just ignore them. One bad review isn't going to affect you. What you really should be doing is listening to the constructive criticism that more than one member here has given you regarding the directory. I've given you that same advice, because on my browser (Safari) there isn't support for the WMP plugin. So everytime I visit AMRAY I'm forced into clicking a dialog box.
Does it ruin the directory? No. It's a small thing for me, but I still think it would improve the directory to remove that small thing.

@Dan
I have mentioned about this occurrence to our directory staff and they will look in why something like this is happening.

WMP is not part of IE and has nothing at all to do with FF. WMP is a stand-alone application that comes with Windows. I am not disputing you comment about the version of the software. I am merely stating that the front page of any website should load fast and without the need to worry about software versions. Taking note of some of the other comments here, embeded video and sound are probably better located elsewhere on the site. I'm just giving you my opinion. What you do with it is your business.

No disrespect intended but Google will probably just laugh at you. Why would they be bothered because you copped some negative press from someone else? I've run many websites since 1998 and on occasions I copped barages of abuse, threats of legal action, death threats, hacking threats, the list goes on. Each and every time the adverse reactions simply provided me with entertainment. On that note, I suggest you do what Dan recommends and just cut your losses. You can't please everyone and the more you try to the more you will look insecure and perhaps even illegitimate because you probably have more pressing things to worry about than criticism from one single site. I know I do.

How faster you want it to load?

Now you are clutching at straws. Did I say your site didn't load fast? My point is regarding front page content and how browsers support it. It is a fact that the simpler it is the better the chance that visitors will explore your site and use the services it offers. From my own point of view, the WMP is a turnoff, as is any Flash, any links that don't work, under construction signs, excessive advertising, JavaScript news/information feeds from external sources and other features that are likely to annoy or inconvenience.
Again, I am not suggesting that any of the above apply to your site so please stop taking constructive criticism personally. As a web developer, I welcome comment on my websites, particularly those that offer membership and community status to other people. Without that input and without being prepared to listen to others I know that these sites would only be half as good.
At the moment you seem to remind me of someone else I know who once wrote an IRC script for the chat programme, mIRC. In his eyes it was perfect but it contained many flaws and he refused to accept constructive criticism as anything but an affront to his product. That, and for the other reasons I outlined above, is probably why his 'marketshare' was eaten alive by an alternative that I was and still distribute.

I've moved these posts out of the previous thread that they were in because they were largely off-topic and taking that thread in an irrelevant direction.
I'm hoping that this is the end of this discussion. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing it.
