Thumbs down Bogus Search Traffic

We get boat loads of traffic similar to the logfile entry below (i deleted the http: slash slash so it won't be a link here). Notice it appears to be from Microsoft's search engine. However there are two problems:
1) the url is actually not a correct referral url for search.live.com
2) if you actually search on search.live.com for the phrase shown it is not in the results.

Now, most of these are for various drug names, but also include various "enlargement" stuff, and car brands among other things.

This would seem to be a pretty normal kinda thing to find... but not with an IP address assigned to Microsoft. These come from various IPs but always in that c-block.

Anyone else getting this stuff?

blog.pets-buynow.com:131.107.0.96 - - [06/May/2007:10:26:24 -0400] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 26959 "*******search.live.com/result.aspx?q=bontril&mrt=en-us&FORM=LVSP" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.2; Win64; x64; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)"

I've had the referrer log spoofed quite a bit on websites.

FF has a number of plugins/extension that allow you to spoof your user-agent and referrer.

I have a referrers plugin here on the forum that shows down the bottom (I think it's set to admin-only at this point in time) and a lot of garbage shows up there. Including fake search query strings on all sorts of search engines.

Yes, that is all find and dandy. My surprise here is that it is coming from Microsoft IP's with spoofyed and invalid microsoft serach engine referral strings.

Now wouldn't Microsoft be slick if they spoofed lots of "legit" referrals from their search engines. Make people think they were getting more "real" traffic than they were. That would make sense.

For Microsoft to spoof p---- elargement and spam crap from their search engine on their ip's is a bit strange.
