Signature allowance is now turned on under the following conditions
- have been a member for more than 5 days
- have a post count of 10 or more
- have a positive rep (if your rep is red or grey then you won't be eligible)

This will hopefully encourage more activity, but discourage "me too" type posting, since those types of posts attract negative rep.

This is a very large change. The old signature requirement was 75 posts, and you had to be a member for a month, with positive rep. So please don't abuse it.

Dan. It is good idea to limit the signatures. But don't you think that 500 posts is too much for member like me who posts not more than 2 to 3 posts in a day.

But tell me this. If you have a signature are you going to post more often?

Technically speaking i can post more than 100 posts per day. But I will not do this, because i have other commitments. I have membership in other forums also. So I will not post more than 10 posts daily if need arises.

Then you see my point. It's the signature, and in particular the links in the signature, that would entice you to post.

I think that's a bad way to encourage posts, because then people create useless posts to increase their postcount and links. It also increases the number of spammers who will use the forum - because they get their signature link and then go and make meaningless posts all over the forum.

It's happened before.

Ok Dan. I am member of this forum and I have to abide by the rules and regulations of the forum. But you have missed my point. Just because spammers are using this signature facility, it does not mean the genuine members should also be punished for that.

I do see your point.

However, it turns the whole forum into a mess that I have to waste additional time cleaning up. I don't have that time.

I allow directory owners to promote their directories on here for free, they can start their own thread and talk about their directory every single day if they want...

I don't see how me being forced to offer people more links for free, just to post, helps me out - especially as it will create more work for me. I give enough already for free, don't you think?

Hi all

Dan is the boss, this is his forum and he is paying to run this forum to help all of us gain and share knowledge.

It is his choice whether he wants to enable signatures or not
