After the SEO pros took their latest swipe at directories via that bit of link bait without any factual information to back up their claims, it's no wonder that the "pros" are now offering a new service for their clients. Removal from evil directories that have been deindexed.
I've posted this on DP too but thought it was worth posting here as well...

Reason: Hello, I am a link building & marketing consultant with Mainstreethost, a digital marketing agency in Buffalo, NY. We have been in business since 1999 and currently work with thousands of businesses, assisting them with their digital marketing needs. We specialize in SEO, paid search advertising, content marketing, social media marketing and web design. The reason for my contact today is that I noticed you were listed on {directory name removed, it is penalized though} , a web directory that has been de-indexed or penalized by Google recently. By participating in these types of link building strategies, you run risk of potentially losing search engine credibility on your own business website (Google’s recent Penguin update for example). Mainstreethost has developed a link building and marketing package that we feel will benefit your website tremendously and help build a more natural, effective link portfolio. Our plan is to identify potentially harmful links to your website, isolate these links, request removal of your links on potentially harmful websites and ultimately present you with a long term marketing plan. If you would like to learn more about this program, please reach out to Mainstreethost at: {email removed} 888-874-3791 Thank you and we look forward to speaking with you!

The directory mentioned, according to conversations I've had with Dan, has been penalized for some time. Who knew people in India bought each other so many flowers?
I don't know if the SEO people are in cahoots with the person who posted his spurious linkbait (not going to give him any more credit or links than he already has received) or they are simply among the gullible folks who believed it. Either way, it's just nasty business when folks go around selling their services by attacking someone else's site.
