Thing is... A lot of directory owners are giving Google's AI a good name.
It *does* get rid of the spam on the 2nd or 3rd run through. A human editor should get it on the 1st.
I was gobsmacked today (again, it's becoming a habit) to see someone TELL a directory owner their business category was full of spam, they responded that they had been through and removed all spam from that category.
I went and had a look, just to satisfy my own curiosity, and the first 4 listings in that category were some of the worst spam I've ever seen.
There was probably another 6 obviously spammy listings on the page (out of 20). So half the Business cat on that directory --- claiming PR4 and 9 years (obviously a dropped domain) on DP...
Disgusting. I was just annoyed and I wrote another post asking directory owners if they even know how to detect spam!
Please do not PM me your directories for inclusion. Instead announce them in the directory promotion and list suggestions thread. All requests and questions regarding inclusion that are made via PM will be ignored.
But gee, Dan, then the poor directory owner would have only half as many listings. Don't you know that the number of listings are more important than their quality? Sheesh, sometimes I wonder about you.
