Do you get traffic from search engines ?
Hi All
Are you getting SE traffic ? I get a constant trickle to one niche directory, but I've heard of some people gettin a ton of traffic from SEs,
I get almost all directory traffic from lists, and forum sigs, apart from the 1 niche directory,
So, do your phplds, phpbds rank in SE's, are the new bid for position directories garnering any traffic
Cheers

I get some little traffic because I have a unique directory.
Those that have general directory and draw all their submissions from the same source, can't get any directory traffic.
There might be few directories that get traffic, but there are also some that outright lie about traffic especially when they want to sell their site.
The most common and only search engine traffic for at least 95% percent of the directories I have seen, is the one where people search for backlinks to their sites, and where submitters and hackers search for "powered by phpld" etc.

To my surprise, my month-old directory actually gets almost 70% traffic from an MSN search engines in Australia I've never heard of (gadgets.ninemsn.com.au)... I was like wtf since I've never anticipated to receive any traffic from MSN, not to mention I get more traffic from Australia than US + Canada combined, and my directory is using a Canadian domain. My directory is actually ranked #1 for the term "listen music"... lol

In Australia some of the search engines have teamed up with television networks so that they have a built-in audience. Quite often a television show on a particular network will also have a website that is then built on subdomains on the search engine. The two most notable are ninemsn (which is channel 9 teaming up with MSN) and Yahoo7 (which is channel 7 teaming up with Yahoo).

Well, I actually picked my domain name anticipating people to make some typos so at least I could get a share of the traffic in the competitive music related field.
