Reports and Review Queues - Behind the Scenes
I thought I would keep a thread here, so people can see where I am at with both the reporting and review queues.
Depending on how I am reviewing a particular directory, they can sit in the review queue for quite some time. This could be because I've contacted the owner and I'm waiting for a response on a particular query, or the directory has very little content and I am waiting for more to be included so that I can conduct a proper review.

I've cleared the submission queue. There are only a handful still pending awaiting changes I've requested with the owners.
I've also cleared the report queue.
If you aren't listed and you are wondering why. Now's the time to ask

If owner made announcement post only, I'm sure you will never hear objections any time soon.

It's been a while since I posted in this thread. Over a year in fact.
Just wanting to keep people up to date with the queues and what's going on. Basically at any point in time there can be several hundred to a thousand submissions waiting to be evaluated.
It obviously takes time to go through them all, and they are not always the greatest priority. e.g. A lot of time was spent recently researching the recreation > gun niche in order to create a worthwhile niche directory section. Since only 3 gun directories were actually submitted, the remainder had to be found and then scrutinised, evaluated, reviewed and listed. All of which takes a lot of time.
So where are we at with the queues now? This morning I started with 250 submissions, many of which weren't directories at all. Currently I'm left with around 90-odd actual directories that I am evaluating one-by-one.
Of these I expect the vast majority to end up in the removed queue as either weak editing, no longer existing or some other reason.
The few that do make it will be worthy of a submit. I'll come back when I've completed that task so that anyone whose submitted anytime recently can assess whether they've been included or not.

This is taking longer than expected, reviewing the directories one by one, and trying to be fair.
There's around 50 left --- around 20 of these are niche, the rest are general paid/free.

I'm down to 30. I'm looking at including at lot of what's left.
Niches are easy to include but what is surprising me is some niche directories that have been around for 1-2 years and have very little content. A niche directory still has to have content. If no one is submitting, then the directory owner needs to be proactive and seed with good content, otherwise really all you have is empty categories, and that's not useful to anyone.

Down to the final 10 in the review queue. It's a shame that most of the remainder won't make it for small issues.
I had to remove Web Tool Hub from the list as they only provide SEO friendly listings for premium submissions, all the rest aren't SEO friendly.
There's a handful of other directories like this, who still haven't adopted the category level SEO friendliness.
There's also some very well designed directories, with strong PR, who have next to no content. So they will also end up in the removed queue.

The review queue is now clear. Closing this thread. I will start a new thread announcing all directories included on IVS up until now for 2012.
I will begin another new thread for the review queues later.
