Hi all, its been a little while, I have been real busy ...
got a question for you all.
Has anyone done the following test?
A newly registered and properly hosted site (lets say a blog). A run submission run throught the enter 500 odd list of Dans and not a single other link. Nada, no more pushing that site, no pinging, no nothing.
I mean, has anyone done this test?oh and merry xmas to you all :)

No, but almost. I mean I've gone through the list for a new site, with only one or two other low-weight links from elsewhere. The effect on PR won't show before the update early next year, but I'm guessing it will be about a 3.
It has to depend a lot on the kind of site you're submitting, though. One that's easy to slot into a common category that's not too deep, and a site that gets accepted easily, is going to do better.

yes I agree,
I a thinking of doing a niche site just to see what happens !
now only if I could find the time !

2 years ago. Results were great. Things changed a lot since (Google putting much less weight on such links).

yes I suppose trust rank has hit in hard in the directories world.
I am hoping to run that test in january as soon as the next pr update rolls past.
Pretty hard to nail a brand new site on the test, but I have done one in the past and it was PR3-4 boost, plus the obviously link popularity and rank climbs.
It's a good platform from which to jump to the next level.

Hi,
I have tested. I submitted a site just before recent PR update and after the update it was PR5 :-p
Thanks.
Did you have links from your other sites though avissoft? If so they probably drove your PR push.

Hi,
No i just did it to a client's site and it had no backlinks becuase it was a new site with new domain. Its bensbus.co.uk. The site achieved a pretty good PR5 i am amazed myself :-) I guess thats the power of directory submissions.
Thanks.
Wow. I am really surprised by that. Well done :)

Ok, a double wow - the farthest i have climbed is a PR4 and well i guess that domain would prove a valuable one for my directory submission research...
Great stuff avi

I don't want to spoil the fun, but checked the bensbus domain and it seems to have links from some good authority travel sites, that are NOT directories and have good PR.
Speaking about PR, when I last checked, as I said it might have been 2 years ago, or a bit less, the number of directories was also significantly lower, I got PR4 for completely new websites, entirely based on submissions (no other links, confirmed).
Too good to be true eh.
This is why I was so surprised. The most I've seen is PR4, but I think its more realistic to expect something like PR3 from the first update these days.

ahhh...thats spoils the party..
But i guess a PR4 is good enough to start selling links...
With a PR 4 i got accepted in the Text Link Ads inventory - fair enough, although the fact remained that i could not install the code in my etomite site, but thats another story
