SEO Friendly Certification

I have decided to introduce an SEO Friendly Certification Button for those directories who wish to indicate that their directory has been validated by me as an SEO friendly resource.

NB: There are two rules when using this image.

1. The link to this site's homepage MUST remain as part of the image display. If it does not, then you are violating my conditions for use of this image.

2. You cannot display this button unless your directory is on either the General, Pay-For-Inclusion or Niche Directory Lists on this site. If you are not on my lists, then you have not been certified by me.

To use the SEO friendly certification button on your site simply paste the following code, where you want the button to appear, on your site.

There is no need to download any images. The code will grab the button from my site, saving you bandwidth. The dimensions of the image are 88 x 31.

The following directories are scheduled for review and addition to the next Info Vilesilencer update. If your directory isn't listed below it currently is not under review. Please submit your directory in this thread if you wish to be added to the SEO Friendly Free Directory List next update.


Inclusion Rules
=============
To be listed on info vilesilencer your directory must meet the following criteria.

* Must have a UFO (unconditionally free option). No reciprocal required.
* Must use direct & static links. No rel=nofollow attributes or redirects.
* Your robots.txt file must not block search engine spiders from crawling and indexing your listings/links.


* If your directory does not offer the SITE TITLE for free as part of the submission then it does not meet the criteria of being SEO Friendly, since this is the most important aspect of listing in a directory.

* If you offer your directory for review then change it from Free to Reciprocal or Pay for Inclusion during the review period, then your directory will be removed and will have to wait for the next update before being considered again (even if you change the site back to free).

* If you decide to change your directory from Free to Reciprocal or Pay for Inclusion after an update and it is flagged for removal, then your directory will be removed as per the next update and you will have to wait one full update before being considered again (even if you change the site back to free after being flagged).

* URL provided for the directory under review must lead directly to the directory and not redirect or initiate popups. Those that are not direct or that contain popups will be rejected/removed.


Paid Inclusion Requirements
===================
To be eligible for the Paid Directories List (http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.php?rock=pay-for-inclusion.php) you must satisfy ALL the SEO Friendly Criteria above (except for the UFO), as well as ONE of the following two options:

1. site-wide on your paid directory via the SEO friendly certification button; OR

2. $50USD inclusion fee (payable via paypal).

N.B: I reserve the right to remove your directory from the paid directory list if you alter it so that it no longer meets ALL of the seo friendly criteria

some dirowners just love to be listed on your list and, moneymoneymoney, kaching(!), changed to recip or payinc. (Shows how much hits you get from being listed on Dan's incredilist)

I have 2 real stupid questions, and I apologize in advance if this is not the right thread, but I have looked and looked, and I am new here...

I have 2 questions:

The first is, that the rules say that in order to submit a paid for inclusion site you must meet all the criteria of the SEO friendly list. ( I am all about being SEO friendly). However, 1 of the criteria states that you have to offer a UFO. (I used to offer a UFO, but got entirely too much spam), is there a way for Paid inclusion sites to be considered SEO friendly without offering the UFO?

Second, I have several paid for inclusion directories that I would like to have considered for adding to the paid list. I would like to take advantage of the option of listing the seo friendly certification button. However your rules say you can't display the button without being approved as SEO friendly first.

So what is the proper way to submit paid for inclusion sites with the intention of using the button?

Sorry if the answers are obivous.....

Perhaps just make an extra thread for your paid directories and Dan will review them.

It doesn't mean that you have to unconditionally approve anyone that submits. All it means that you approve, for free of course (no fee, no recip), sites that submit and are in accordance with your rules (ie. non-spam, high quality, whatever).

In regards to the UFO, I think I understood the term. The part I don't get is can a paid inclusion directory gets listed if it doesn't have a UFO? If they don't then there are a lot of directories that are listed (on the paid list) that don't have a UFO.

Paid inclusion directory that doesn't have UFO, gets listed into Paid list, not free list, with the only condition being for listing in the paid list (apart from being seo friendly) is either sitewide Vilesilencer seo friendly button, or payment of listing fee.

UFO is only for free directory list. Directories on free directory list, can have paid options, but will be considered free as long as they offer UFO alongside with paid or recip options.
Directories on Paid list, don't have to offer UFO, they however still must be seo friendly.

Hope I did explain clearly, but if I didn't manage, feel free to ask....

Technology always fails... the key is to be prepared. An AT&T T3 has trouble yesterday so one of our lines was out for an hour or so. AT&T couldn't use their dial up to manage their router on our premise since the dialup and the internet circuit both went through the failed T3... (they were close to saying they couldn't fix it cause our phone line wasn't work)...

If it was much more than an hour we would have routed around it.

There are so many possible points of failure that the only guarantee is that it WILL fail again.

When checking their queue there are over 5200 submissions waiting and about 12000 sites listed. I think the only reason they do it is to prevent spam because they are an auto-add directory. I agree its not practical - most spammy sites would have their category in their meta tag.

- Linketeria I get the same message. It also looks like they have done a fair bit of maintenance on their directory (the listing numbers have dropped by a few thousand - so they are probably cleaning out some junk submits). I wouldn't mind betting they are doing this so that they can get rid of all the garbage before opening up the submits again. I'll remove it for now and I have decided to do the same for quicksilver...

- recip resources was flagged on 7/11 in the watch list. Basically the way it works is, if they are still down on the watch list when I go to update, I remove them. I try and contact the owners if possible, but in most cases there is no way to contact them. Recip resources is owned by a member here, I guess I should put the memberlist back on so we can check through that.

I tried a couple of sites, just to be sure. Both submissions were for the main domain eg http://www.example.com, and both went to different deep categories. So something definitely appears broken.

No changes
- there are bound to be empty categories in directories. Webmaster Niche has got very little to do with forums, so BR2 hosting having an empty forum category doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
- clickfire was slow, you get that.
- Digital Dir has already been moved to General. They were webmaster, they expanded and requested to be moved.
- Weblinks Picson is predominantly webmaster. It's in the right niche.
- Free article's URLs are funny looking, I'm not interested in how they structure their URLs as long as it doesn't affect their indexation. They have pages with the tilde~ in them indexed, so its not a problem as far as I am concerned (even though none of the directory-level pages are indexed in google).
- I dont track Niche's for their ease of submission. There are so few of them. If people can't be bothered registration and submitting via email, then thats their prerogative.
- Great directory Site - thats a small queue...
- Silverscript was fast for me. fine.

- I've taken RedLinks and DirectorioBus off watch, both are back.
- I've taken iSearchlink, Linkedout, Linktome, OSWD, Nolinkback off watch as their problems have been resolved.

However,
- LinkIsle, Recipr resources, Sc2, Best Link Guide, Index Rated, Supertrafic have all been flagged for removal they have been down a lot longer than 2 weeks.
- The Web Directory, One Stop Link Shop, SEO Planet, The Romania, Majestic Directory, SEO Team, SEO Solution have been flagged for removal.
- Ive flagged Search Wiz for removal. They were on watch for over 6 months because we were unsure of whether they were adding sites or not. After nearly 6 months they have not added 1 site. I think we can conclude they do not add sites :)
- Ive flagged Chillycool for removal. They haven't added 1 site to their Travel Cat in over 3 months. That is one of the busiest categories on any directory and is indicative that they do not add sites.
- I've flagged SEO Sage for removal. They have had their submission for "offline for maintenance" for over 5 months. They've been taken off watch.
